Roy Wayne Hayes, age 78 of Huntland, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. He was born in Franklin County on January 31, 1943 to the late Gaylor Ernest and Hazel Irene (Hill) Hayes and grew up in the Oak Grove Community. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and had been employed for forty-seven years by the State of Tennessee Highway Department before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to Gatlinburg and seeing all the sights around the state of Tennessee. Wayne was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered for his kind and friendly personality as well as devotion to his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Myra Hayes and Dena Edde. Wayne is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Joyce Hayes of Huntland; brother-in-law, Lewis Edde; nephew, Ryan (Crystal) Edde; and great-nieces, Kiersten Edde and Kayla Edde.
