On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, Gloria Byars Cost, loving wife, and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 82.
A loving mother and homemaker, Gloria enjoyed cooking and making fantastic desserts. Pound Cake, Coconut Cake, Carrot Cake and Fudge Cake were her specialties and will be missed by all who were fortunate to enjoy them over the years. Her home was always open to family and friends and she enjoyed preparing meals for all to enjoy.
While living in Tuscaloosa, Gloria served for many years as the church hostess at First Baptist Church. Since 2006, she was an active member of Mayfair Church of Christ and was a regular attendee of the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Study.
Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Dr. Thomas Lee Cost. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Caleb Cargile. Gloria is survived by her daughter, Alyson Cargile, (Mike); son, Steven Cost (Leslie); four grandchildren, Hannah Cargile, Jacob Cargile, Coleman Cost and Garrett Cost; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A brief graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery on Monday, January 3, at 11 a.m.
