LAWRENCE COUNTY-On Christmas Eve The Lawrence County sheriff’s Department was called to a residence in the 6900 block of County Road 217. Upon arrival they found a man dead from gunshot injuries. Here is the report from the Lawrence County Sheriff:
The Lawrence County Sheriffs Office has arrested Timothy Dakota McCary age 21 of Moulton, AL. McCary is being held at the Lawrence County Jail on Capital Murder charges. Investigators arrested McCary for the shooting death of Gavin Hargrove. Gavin Hargrove’s body was discovered in the residence belonging to McCary on Christmas Eve. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received several tips as to the whereabouts of McCary. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office and other agencies worked tirelessly on Christmas Day to follow up on those tips. At approx 6pm on Christmas Day McCary was spotted in the Langtown Community near County Road 214 and Alabama Highway 33. Lawrence County Deputies, Moulton Police, Courtland Police, Alabama State Troopers and Agents with the ALEA SBI attempted to located McCary in the area around County Road 501. A citizen spotted McCary approximately a mile away on County Road 240 at 9:30pm. McCary attempted to outrun Deputies on foot but was quickly apprehended. It is not known at this time what prompted McCary to shoot Hargrove. Sheriff Max Sanders would like to thank the citizens that called in tips. The support of the local community was instrumental in the apprehension of McCary. Sheriff Sanders would like to thank the Deputies, Investigators, Moulton Police, Courtland Police, State Troopers and ALEA SBI for the use of their drone.
