Mr. James C. “Jimmy” Yates age 75 of Rock Island, TN died Friday, December 17, 2021, at his residence. He was born December 15, 1946, in Van Buren County, TN, was a retired diesel mechanic with FedEx Nashville, and was a member of Mt. View Church of Christ. Jimmy was a member of the Antique Tractor Association, enjoyed antique automotive restoration, loved his football, fishing, and cashews. Mr. Yates was preceded in death by parents James Lee and Wilma Olene Templeton Yates, brother Merle Yates, and sister-in-law Charlotte Yates.
Survivors include his wife Shirley M. Yates, sons James Paul (Jeana) Yates, Richard K. (Nikki) Yates, and Michael D. (Chanda) Yates, grandchildren Brady Yates, Lane Yates, Alex Yates, Kylee Yates, Grant Yates, Robbie Yates, and Emily Malone, great grandchildren Brinlee Yates, Anzlee Wade Yates, and Bobby Lee Yates, brother-in-law Joe (Karol) Scott, mother-in-law Sepal Taylor, special friends James Conley, John Fogg, Charles Hale, Chad Spicer, along with his FedEx Family and the Mayes Family. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 20, 2021 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jim Hunt will officiate. The Yates family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and again Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
