Mellina Ready Hudgins, 76, of Huntsville passed away on December 9, 2021. She was beloved and will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know her. Mellina attended the Bradley School in Huntsville’s Merrimack Village and completed her bachelor’s degree at Samford University (then Howard College) in Birmingham. She gave her working energy to civil service, first in various offices in the city of Huntsville, and finally in the procurement office at Marshall Space Flight Center, from which she retired in 1999. She was an active member of University Baptist Church (Huntsville) and the Gideons Auxiliary. In recent years she invested her energies into her community at Redstone Village. Mellina loved sewing, quilting, music, cooking and gardening, and gave deeply of herself to her family and friends. She was a woman of deep faith, expressing her trust in God’s grace through the many trials she experienced. She found her greatest joy in helping others – from making crafts to support mission work, sewing quilts for the sick, or making meals that brought comfort to people in times of need. Mellina was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Allene and Turley J. Ready, and her siblings, Wayne Ready and Glennis Whiteley. She is survived by her husband, Arvin; son, Jonathan Parks (Tanya); stepchildren, Clay Hudgins and Gay Patricia Hall (Mitchell); grandchildren, Dylan Hall, Brynn Hall, Trevor Hall, Abigail Parks, and Kaitlyn Parks; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Details for visitation and funeral arrangements – including a livestream – can be obtained by contacting the family directly. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mellina’s memory to a Christian and/or charitable organization that is meaningful to you.
