Jackie Nelson Steele, 73, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away November 23, 2021 peacefully in his home surrounded by family. Born to the late Jake Steele and Margaret Foshee Steele in Winchester, TN on January 16, 1948, and was preceded in death by his sister, Christie Lynn Butler. Mr. Steele is survived by his loving family; (wife) Susan Powell Steele, (daughters) Sherilyn Steele, Brandy Steele; (sons) J. J. (Samantha) Steele, J. B. (Elise) Davis, Josh (Mindy) Davis; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, his brother Thomas Steele and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jackie grew up in Winchester Springs, TN. He met no stranger and loved all people. He served our great country in Vietnam. His service continued on the home front with 40 plus years as a firefighter in Winchester and AEDC. He volunteered his time mentoring young firefighters, sharing his experience where the importance of safety for self and others was stressed, explained, and demonstrated. Jackie cherished the friendships with his firefighter brothers and sisters of all ages and will be missed by all. He valued hard work taking pride in every job, and instilling that characteristic in his children and grandchildren. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed the company more than the fishing itself. We will miss hearing about his adventures, and the special one on one time with this amazing man. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, strength, courage, and integrity. But most importantly we’ll remember him as a loving and supportive husband, a father, a caring son, and the Pappy that loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally—ready to pick them up when they fell, rescue them when they were in trouble, and getting them back on track. Jackie always placed God first in his life believing “God is in charge”. Visitation for Jackie will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday November 27, 2021 at Moore -Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester Tennessee. Funeral services will be Sunday November 28,2021 at 1:00PM at Moore- Cortner with Brother Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Fox Family Cemetery in Christiana, Tennessee.
