Athens Man Dies In Head-On Collision; Meridianville Woman Charged With Manslaughter

ATHENS-On Saturday, November 20, James Crowley, 53 was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was hit head-on by a Volkswagen Jetta near U.S. Highway 31 just south of Tanner in Limestone County.

The Jetta was driven by Amanda Leann Asuncion, 37 of Meridianville who was uninjured in the crash.  According to State Troopers Asuncion was driving under the influence at the time of the accident and was charged at the time with DUI.

Asuncion has been charged with manslaughter and is being held in the Limestone County Jail on a $100,00 bond.

A motion was filed requesting Asuncion be allowed to leave the state for several days in December to attend a family wedding in California, according to court documents. A hearing has been set for November 30.
