Eddie Lee Long was born on June 13, 1934, in Jackson, TN, the son of the late Rev. Silas C. Long II and Elsie Long. He departed this life on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
He attended school at Denmark High School. He accepted Christ at an early age and even in his later years, he still enjoyed attending church services. He later relocated to Decatur, IL where he lived for over 59 years. He was employed by Wagner’s Casting Company were he laborer for 32 years.
In February of 1956, Eddie married his Heaven-sent queen, Pearlie Walter Long; for the next 65 years of their lives, they were the center of each other’s hearts until death did them part.
Eddie was a man who loved the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved guns. He also enjoyed the luxury and beauty of both cars and motorcycles. His love for motorcycles led him into becoming a member of the Night Riders motorcycles club. He was also a part of the Masonic brotherhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother, Emma Crutchfield; daughter, Alice “Denise” Cobitt; and one granddaughter, MonSharie
Eddie’s unconditional love will forever be in the hearts of his loving wife, Pearlie; children, Joyce Long, Eddie Long Jr. (Tabatha), Carolyn D. Jones (Thurmon), Emma Matthew (Thomas), Linda Long, Silas Long, Cassandra Anderson (Josie), and Tyrone Johnson (Tameka); special cousins, Donna Hawkins, Jennings Golden “Jenny Baby”, Rodney Golden, and Charles Rice; special friends, Earnest Shelly Sr. and Earnest Shelly Jr. and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
