Graveside services for Mrs. Dorothy McKnight Lancaster, age 87, will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 2 pm at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 762 Dyersburg Hwy., Trenton, TN 38382. Services will be led by Pastor Brian Griffith of the First United Methodist Church in Trenton, TN.
Mrs. Lancaster passed away Wednesday evening at Trenton Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long-term battle with breast cancer and complications from a stroke.
Mrs. Lancaster, a graduate of Humboldt High School and West Tennessee Business College, was an employee of Gibson Electric Membership Corporation for over 25 years. After her retirement from Gibson Electric Membership Corporation, she worked in the Gibson County Veterans Administration office. During her retirement, she volunteered as a mentor for Trenton Elementary School and as a “Pink Lady” at Gibson General Hospital. She enjoyed shorthand, typing, and working with and helping people in any way she could.
Mrs. Lancaster enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and traveling on various group trips with church friends across the United States and to the Smokey Mountains. She liked flowering plants, her pet dogs and cats, and fishing.
Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. John Pitts McKnight, and Mrs. Bessie McKnight. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Charlie Lancaster of Trenton, TN and her son John Lancaster and his wife Jessica of Bartlett, TN and their daughter Meghan of Nashville, TN.
