Jean Tucker DeLong passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She is survived by two sisters, Dimple Beddingfield and Louise Thomas (a centenarian); a son, Gary Robinson, Lt Col, USAF (ret); two granddaughters, Dr Amanda Lea Robinson and Liza Jane Robinson; and five great-grandchildren, Bronwen Rose, Ilona Beverly, Eva Violet, Amanda Mae, and Augustus Bear (the apple of her eye).

She was born on Brindlee Mountain in rural Morgan County on the eve of the Great Depression. Fiercely determined to better her lot in life, she trained as a cosmetologist, and later became a successful businesswoman, owning and operating her own beauty salon in Huntsville for many years. In addition, she was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, attending Whitesburg Baptist Church regularly until her elder years.

She was especially fond of flowers, and her favorite activity was traveling to Wales and Pennsylvania to spend time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. May she Rest In Peace.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. Larry Inman officiating.
