Mrs. Christine Omega Ladshaw, age 96 of Birmingham, passed away at her residence Friday, October 29, 2021. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Memory Hill Cemetery, with Brother Chris Johnson officiating.
Christine was born to Walter and Mattie Franks of Guntersville, AL, and later grew up in Ozark, where she met and married David John Ladshaw. They had 59 years of marriage and 4 children, Lettie Jane Ladshaw Posey, David John Ladshaw II “Bubby”, Sheila Diane Ladshaw Smith, and Malinda Denise Ladshaw Karr, and were blessed with 20 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Walter Franks and Mattie Wilson; husband David John Ladshaw; son David John Ladshaw II “Buddy”; and brother Billy Franks.
She and David traveled with the military until World War II ended. They lived in many places until they settled in Albertville.
Christine was a southern baptist and attended church regularly. she was very happy being the oldest member of Double Oak Community Church at Mt. Laurel. She was always very involved in civic organizational. She was a member of Band Boosters, Lady
Civitans, Ladies Auxiliary and held the office of President of the Alabama Alumni Association. She loved to travel, she loved Alabama football, and she loved her family.
One of her marked bible verses was from Luke 1:16: My soul glorifies the Lamb and my spirit rejoices in God my savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of the servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the mighty one has done great things for me, holy is his name.
In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to The First Baptist Church of Albertville (309 E. Main St. Albertville, AL 35950) or Double Oak Community Church (115 Olmsted St. Birmingham, AL 35242.
Pallbearers include grandsons and great grandsons Justin, Austin, Christopher, Blake, Hayden, and Kyle.
