Rev. Paul Clutts, Jr., 94, went to be with his Savior, on October 31, 2021 surrounded by his wife of 76 years, Jean Clutts, family and friends. He was born on July 19, 1927 to Thelma Stroud Clutts and Charlie Paul Clutts, Sr.

He graduated from Madison High School and is a World War II veteran of the US Army. Mr. Clutts worked for Montgomery Ward, and the US Postal Service before being called into the ministry in 1957. He attended Howard College then pastored churches in South Tennessee and throughout Alabama.  He pastored churches at New Grove Baptist Church of Blanche, TN; Antioch Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL; First Baptist Church of Cherokee, Cherokee, AL; Westwood Baptist Church, Selma, AL; First Baptist Church of St. Elmo, St. Elmo, AL; First Church of Ardmore, Ardmore, AL; Concord Baptist Church, Toney, AL and numerous interim pastorates after his retirement.

Mr. Clutts was known by most as Preacher or Bro. Paul and his and Mama Jean’s home was always open to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, William Clutts, Wesley Clutts, Grady Clutts, and Wayne Clutts. Survivors include his wife, Jean Clutts; daughter, Jeanne Hill (Danny); sons, Paul David Clutts (Jena), James Clutts, and Timothy Clutts (Joanna); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, November 1st from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be at Jackson Way Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 2nd at 2:00 PM with Rev. John Pond and Rev. Trull Hill officiating. Mr. Clutts will be laid to rest at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
