MUSCLE SHOALS – Northwest Alabama Regional Airport is in the process of evaluating proposals from four commuter airlines who wish to contract for flights from The Shoals for the next four years. Public input is ending this week, and the airline proposals evaluations by the airport are also due by the end of the week. Airport Director, Barry Griffith says that he has notified the Department of Transportation that more time is needed, past the deadline, to properly evaluate the proposals.

The current carrier is Boutique Air which has daily flights from Muscle Shoals to Atlanta and Pensacola is one of the applicants for the new contract.

The other carriers are, Southern Airways Express, of Palm Beach, Florida; Air Choice One, of St. Louis, Missouri; and Contour Airlines, of Smyrna, Tennessee.
