Ralph Edward Henley, age 81 of Decherd, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Decherd on August 16, 1940 to the late Andrew Gattis and Bertha Lee (Crabtree) Henley. Before his retirement, Ralph had been employed at Carrier Heating and Cooling for thirty-seven years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being in the great outdoors, tending to his vegetable garden, and watching nature shows on television. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially Johnny Cash, and playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica, and fiddle. His family will remember his loving, creative, and caring nature and devotion, as well as his love for being at home surrounded by his beloved family. Ralph was a dedicated member of White Oak Grove Church of God. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Henley Jr; son-in-law, Michael Moore; stepson, David Boaz; first wife, Harriett Ann Henley; and brothers, William Henley, J.B. Henley, and Horace Henley. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Lynette Henley of Decherd; children, Randy Henley and Connie Moore, both of Decherd; stepchildren, Don Boaz of New Mexico. Diane (David) Latham of Arkansas, Darlene (Steve) Campbell of Oklahoma, and Dana (Paul) Sherman of Arkansas; grandchildren, Cindy Hauburn and Amanda Haney; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Henley of Decherd; many nieces and nephews; and four-legged best friends, Brandy and CiCi. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Spencer VanOrder and Bro. Ricky Walls officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Scott Henley, Bobby Ray Henley, James Henley, Tim Hill, Bobby Wayne Sherrill, and Buddy Price serving as pallbearers.
