Barbara Ila Floyd Medlen passed away October 17, 2021, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, AL.
Born March 13, 1935, to Andrew and Sarah (Pylant) Floyd, she lived and worked in Madison County her entire life. She retired from Redstone Arsenal Missile Command in 1989, having proudly participated in the Hellfire Missile project.
She will be lovingly remembered by friends and family for her thoughtful and generous nature.
She is survived by three children: Joey (Mary) Medlen, Barry (Kandy) Medlen, and Patricia (Mike) Harrison; 10 grandchildren: Baron (Erin) Medlen, Lindsay (David) Medlen Warren, Sarah Fields, Corey (Emily) Medlen, Whitney (Josh) Medlen Bateman, Patti (Jay) Mashburn, Casey (Tara) Medlen, Barbara (Matt) Harrison Webster, Jaimie (TJ) Medlen Noe, Captain Haley (Andrew) Medlen Gorie, M.D.; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Gail Kinsey and Sue Floyd, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville. Public visitation will be at 11:00, followed by the service at 12:00. A graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery will follow.
