Billy Frank Hodges, 86, of Madison, passed away Sunday. Bill was born in Taccopola, Mississippi to Mack and Carra Hodges. He graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bill Hodges served 33 years with the Department of the Army which included: U.S. Army Active Duty Basic Training 1957; U.S. Army Reserve – Ordnance Engineer 1957 – 1963; Army Civilian Service to the U.S. Army Missile Command (USAMC) 1963 – 1990. He retired in June 1990 from serving as the Chief of the Product Assurance & Test Division for the USAMC Pershing Project Office located on Redstone Arsenal.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marlene Hodges; children, Gregory Hodges (Reene), and Linda Hodges Hindes; grandchildren, Blake Hodges, Devon Hindes, Anna Bray Hodges, Garrett Hindes and Reece Hodges; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frances Parks, Hazel Cochran and Robert Hodges.

Bill was an active member at Marion Street Church of Christ. He previously was a member and served as a deacon at Jordan Park Church of Christ. He was an Alabama Master Gardener and a master woodworker. Bill and Marlene enjoyed traveling to Iceland, Europe, China, the Mediterranean, as well as domestically.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Lowell Sallee officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
