Clara Beatrice Ellis Toothman, age 89, of Goodlettsville, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2021 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 1-2pm in the Goodlettsville Church of Christ with Brother Charles Baugh officiating. Funeral services will follow at the church at 2pm.
Burial will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11am in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Toothman was born November 3, 1931 in Robertson County, TN to the late George Edward and Clara Swallows Ellis. She graduated from Cedar Hill High School in June of 1949 and married Jess Toothman June 24th that same year. Mrs. Toothman chose early on to be a housewife and stay at home mother to their children, Jeff and Tina Louise. She was a long-time member of the Goodlettsville Church of Christ where she was known as a greeter to visitors. She was truly a “help-meet” for her husband during his 40 years of preaching, 11 years as an elder, and running the WBS of the Goodlettsville Church. She never worked outside the home except some brief periods helping her husband during his military service and college.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Toothman is preceded in death by her only sibling, Helen Bryant. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jesse Toothman; son, George “Jeff” Toothman of Goodlettsville; daughter, Tina Louise Sipes of Mt. Juliet; and grandchildren, Trisha (Ryan) Crabtree and Jessica Sipes.
