Mr. Wendell Harris Newby age 61 of McMinnville, TN, died Monday August 30, 2021, at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born October 24, 1959, in McMinnville, TN, was the owner and operator of Wendell’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning for 35 years, and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents William Harris and Lorene McCormick Newby, wife Rhonda Jean Watts Newby, son William Cole Newby, brother Douglas Newby, and sister Faye Nunley. Wendell was a kind-hearted, generous, selfless man who was a friend to everyone. He was also known as a jokester. He loved spending time with the grandkids and enjoyed tinkering on vehicles and tractors. He loved and cherished his family dearly.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Craig and Sadie Newby, daughter and son-in-law Shelley and Rusty Smith, daughter-in-law Ashlyn Newby, girlfriend of 10 years Susan Grandey, and grandchildren Brooklyn Newby, Macie Kate Newby, Londyn Smith, Ledger Newby, and Lincoln Newby.
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 04, 2021, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Dennis Deweese will officiate. Interment will follow at Centertown Cemetery. The Newby Family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service in the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
Facial masks are strongly encouraged as is social distancing.
