Gary Monroe Lockhart, a life long resident of the Hayden andn Warrior communities, died peacefully in his home after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer on August 10, 2021 surrounded by his family at the age of 67.
Gary was born in Birmingham on November 9, 1953 to Monroe and Flora Mae Lockhart. He graduated from Hayden High School. Afterwards he played the drums for several traveling gospel banks for 30 years. he married Susie in 1990 and their adventures went on for 31 years. he had many hobbies and interests that include: bowling on a league with Susie for 20 years, avid concert goer, wood working, working the auction for over 10 years, a huge NASCAR fan, a member of Loves Crossing church of God since 2013, spending time with and bragging about his 10 grandchildren, but nothing topped his passion of collecting of Hot Wheels.
Gary is survived by his wife (Susie Lockhart), his children (Chris Lockhart, Jeremy Lockhart, Michael Harris, Nicole Clemons and Tiffany Coleman), his siblings (Kathy Harmon and Ralph Lockhart), and 10 grandchildren.
He is preceded by death by his parents ( Monroe and Flora Mae Lockhart) and sister (Betty Sue Lee)
He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14th at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial to follow at Dilworth Cemetery. Darryl Chamblee and Phillip Jones will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, August 13th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Bell Sumiton Chapel.
