Edwin Mark “Hany” Whisenant

Mr. Edwin Mark “Hany” Whisenant, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

A graveside service will take place at Maury Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rick Points and Bill Yancy officiating. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 Service Hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Hany was born on October 2, 1946, in Spring Hill, Tennessee; to the late Charles Gideon Whisenant and the late Myrtle Royal Whinesnant. He was married to the late Brenda Palmer, and worked for the City of Columbia Street Department, and White’s Glass & Upholstry. Hany bravely served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Medical Corpsman, where he earned many medals during his service: the NDSM, VSM, VCM, w/ 60 Device, 1 0/s bar. Hany enjoyed talking with his friends, and loved his dog, “Moses”. He was known to be a jokester and loved life.

 

Those left behind to cherish Hany’s memory are his stepdaughters: Shannon Gray Tingle of Spring Hill, Michelle Sullivan of Columbia; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

 

Those acting as pallbearers will be the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association, and the Point Guard Riders. Those acting as Honorary Pallbearers are all of his Vietnam Veteran friends.
