Funeral Services for Mrs. Odessa Hester Forbus, age 100 of Lineville, will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home at Ashland with Rev. L.C. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Forbus passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Lineville Health & Rehab, where she spent the last five years. A lifelong resident of Clay County; she was a homemaker, loved working in the garden, planting flowers and freezing/canning her vegetables. Mrs. Forbus always cared for her family and enjoyed music, singing, playing her guitar and piano. She was always ready when someone mentioned going fishing and would always be the first to catch a fish. Mrs. Forbus had a black poodle named “Ivy Lee” that she loved dearly. She always let the family know where to find mama and always let mama know when a stranger came around. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be greatly missed. Mrs. Forbus was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church (North).
She is survived by three daughters: Genette Harris (Gene) of Port Charlotte, Fla, Helen Jean McGinnis (Bill) of Delta and Hilda Faye Carwile (Sherman) of Lineville, her son, Johnny J. Forbus (Jennifer) of Lineville, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alver Hester and Roxie Lee Fulton Hester, her husband of 60 years, John Emory Forbus, her daughter, Mary Leigh Daugherty and two brothers: Leroy and Virgil Hester.
Active Pallbearers will be: Phil Harris, Chad Spurlin, Doug Bunn, Chuck Harris, Clay Spurlin and Cole Spurlin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
