Mr. Jerry Hayes  Mr. Jerry Hayes was born on September 2, 1938 in Marshall County, Alabama. He passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021. He attended school in Marshall County and served in the Army in the 1960’s and was stationed in Germany. He married Billie Maze Black in May, 1987. Their marriage and love for each other grew for 30 years.
Mr. Hayes enjoyed several jobs over the years, including raising chickens (layers), car salesman, and pesticide operator. He served 9 years on the Arab Electric Co-Op board and served as the President from August, 1980, to August, 1988. He greatly enjoyed showing and judging Tennessee Walking Horses. He never met a stranger, he enjoyed conversing with everyone. Mr. Hayes’ love for his grandchildren, great granddaughter and soon to be born two additional great granddaughters was unsurpassed and he will always be remembered as Papaw. He would do anything for these precious kids.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his step-children Chris (Melissa) Black, Beth (Devin) Whitaker; brother-in-law, David Neal Maze; grandchildren Jessica (Heath) Oden, Jennifer Black, Dustin (Caitlyn) Whitaker, Dalton Whitaker; great-granddaughter, Alexa “Lexi” Lee Oden; honorary grandson, Kyle Bennefield; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many friends.
Mr. Hayes is preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Reba Mae Edmondson Horton; beloved wife Mrs. Billie Hayes.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers from Clearview Cancer Institute (CCI), Alliance Cancer Care, Encompass Health, and Huntsville Hospital.
