Janet Baker McAlister JamesJanet Baker McAlister James, age 75, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Thursday, July 08, 2021 at Russellville Hospital.

Janet had worked for years as a seamstress at Haleyville Drapery. She loved to work in her yard and flower gardens, and had beautiful flowers. She had a special lawn mower that she would not let anyone else use, even her husband, Cecil. She was a loving and fun person, who was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, special sister, and a friend to everyone. She was devoted to her family, always taking care of them and their needs.

The visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the funeral being at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Bro. Willi Cummings will speak at the service. Burial will be at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Marlon McAlister; sons, Teddy Alan McAlister, Marlon Joil McAlister, Jr., parents, Rufus & Eula Baker; and brother, J.C. Baker.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 27 years, Cecil James; special grandson, Andrew McAlister; children, Michael James (Lucy) of Shelbyville, TN, Tina Ortiz (Pedro) of Jackson TN, Becky White of Phil Campbell, Baretta Saint of Phil Campbell; 10 other grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty McAlister (Olen); brother, Bobby Baker (Faye); sister-in-law, Virginia Pickard; nieces, Annette Wells, Theresa Gasaway; nephew, Greg Baker; and other nieces & nephews.

The pallbearers will be Craig Saint, Ryan Saint, Brett Saint, Joshua James, Larry Hallman, and Greg Baker. The honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of North Alabama Hospice, the Franklin County Sherriff’s Department and Blue Springs Fire Department for the help extended to our family.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
