Mrs. Brenda Houk Allen, received her heavenly reward on July 8, 2021 and is now dancing on the streets of gold! Brenda was born in Huntsville, Alabama on March 29, 1943 to Vernie Lee and Agnes Houk. Brenda loved to sing gospel music, choir, dance and worship God! Brenda was a member of Life Church in Huntsville, Alabama.
Brenda’s legacy to her children and grandchildren is strong and vibrant even in her death. Brenda was always the life of the party, pulling people onto the dance floor even when they did not want to dance. She was a consummate lover of her family and enjoyed spending time cooking for her family, playing dominoes, and dancing with any of the babies in the family. Every family gathering brought much laughter and sometimes even tears, especially when the talk turned to memories of times past, family members who had gone on before her, and how much she longed to see her mom and dad in heaven. She loved to sing and could often be found sitting with the family singing old songs of faith.
Brenda is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Vernie and Agnes Houk, brothers Bobby and Curly Houk, and sister, Janice Baskins. She is survived by her husband, Mark Allen of Huntsville, children Sharon (and Jimmy) Harper of Cleveland, TN, LeAnn (and Chuck) Wheeler of Pulaski, TN, Kelly (and Mike) Poblete of Huntsville, and Jason (and Laura) Layne of Huntsville. Brenda has ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and Bear (her maltipoo).
Services will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home of Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm with family visitation occurring at 11:00 am until 2:00 pm CST. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
