Garry Wayne Maxwell, 75, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. He was born in Dennis, MS and worked in management in the garment industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Chapel Hill Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 11, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. James Herman Gray and Bro. Charlie Summerford officiating. Burial will be in Dennis Memory Gardens, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years – Cletra Maxwell; two daughters – Crystal Timms (Jeremy) and Hope Shewbart (Adam); one granddaughter – Layla Jade Timms; two grandsons – Trager and Traysen Shewbart; two brothers – Larry Maxwell (Reba) and David Maxwell and one sister – Janice Rea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Flaves and Eula Ivey Maxwell; his mother-in-law – Rena Harris Gray and her husband, Herman Gray and a special brother-in-law, Bobby Rea.
Pallbearers will be Adam Shewbart, Jeremy Timms, Chuck Oaks, Ellis Cromeans, Brent Harris and Brad Harris. Honorary pallbearer will be Trager Shewbart.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 11, 1-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
