Edward Earl HoneaEdward Honea of New Hope, AL passed away on the evening of July 4, 2021, at the age of 84.

He was born to Ernest and Nellie Honea in 1936 and was a lifelong resident of New Hope. He worked at John Blue for ten years and then Dunlop Tire Co where he eventually retired after 25 years. At nine years old he met, Joyce Maples. He said that from the first day he met her, he knew she was the one. At nineteen years old, he married her, and they celebrated 65 wonderful years together.

Edward was a kind, honest, and hardworking man who enjoyed living life with his family. His greatest joy was seeing and playing with the younger generations, and his favorite spot in the house was decorated with pictures of them. He enjoyed researching the genealogy of his family and talking with friends on social media. He also enjoyed raising animals, growing a garden, fishing, and rocking on the front porch.

Edward is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Honea, his mother, Nellie Brockway Honea, sisters, Leona Meeks, Marie Kearney, Ola Mae Hughes, Ethel Rohrmoser, Dorothy Barnett, and Margaret Glover, great grandchildren, David and Fiona Brindley.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Honea, his children, Diana Salmon, Barbara Honea, Theresa Posey (Rickey), Michael Honea, and Rhonda Godsey (William), his 11 grandchildren, Richie Posey (Kathy), Ginny Morrow (Darren), Rachael Brindley (Ryan), Jessi Molina (Brian), Kathy Honea, Samantha Godsey, Clifton Salmon, Kellye Kirsopp (Frank), Carla Crawford (Nick), Nathan Godsey, and Lydia McElheny (Stephen). Twelve great-grandchildren. One brother, Ernest P. Honea Jr. and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, July 8th, 2021, at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dewayne Martin officiating.

Interment will be in the Moon Cemetery.
