Stuart Douglas Cherrie
June 11, 1932 – June 29, 2021
Mr Cherrie (Poopsie) passed away peacefully at his residence of 51 years on the morning of June 29th.
Stuart was the first born to Stuart Gordon Cherrie and Daisy Mae Crawford Cherrie. He was born and raised in Niagara Falls Ontario Canada. It was here that he met his life long sweetheart Jan Aldine Nagel Cherrie. Stuart relocated to Huntsville Al in 1970 with Norton company where he later retired from. Stuart and Jan lived a long happy life together. Up until the day she passed (Feb 13th 2021) he would shuffle into the room and say ” good morning Janikins what can I do for you?”. Throughout the years Stuart has reminisced with his family of childhood memories of the mischief he and his brothers got into. They were always ” good boys” according to their mother. Later memories were made during vacations at Brooks cottages where all 3 brothers would gather with their young families joined by the brothers parents. Even more memories were made later at Stuart’s brother Paul’s cottage. Stuart also frequently reminisced about his over seas adventures with his life long friend Al Collins. Jan and Stuart continued to provide opportunities for new memories to be made with their daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Stuart is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Jan Nagel Cherrie, his parents Stuart Gordon Cherrie and Daisy Mae Crawford Cherrie and his brother David Craig Cherrie.
He is survived by his daughter Leslee Metcalf, grandchildren Justin (April) Phillips, Heather (Cory) Johnson. Great grandchildren Karlee, Kasen and Ryan. Brother Paul Cherrie(Cathy), sister in law Jytte Cherrie, brother in law Robin (Diane) Nagel. Nieces and nephew Cindy, Craig, Catherine and Susan. Extended family Tony and Tammy Carlisle.
