Mrs. Sara Elizabeth McKinney, age 84 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. McKinney was born November 13, 1936, in Corinth, MS., to the late Bert McKinney Coleman Sr. and Maxine Jane Brewster Coleman. She was a homemaker, and was a faithful member of the Vernon First United Methodist Church. Mrs. McKinney was married to the later Coach Kenneth McKinney, and was also preceded in death by their son, Kenny McKinney; their daughter, Kathy McKinney; their grandson, Wesley Wiygle; and her two brothers, Bert McKinney Coleman, Jr. and Edwin Brewster Coleman.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 28, at 11:00 AM, at the Vernon First United Methodist Church, with Bro. Roger Shock and Luke McKinney officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 PM at Henry Cemetery in Corinth, MS. Visitation will be Monday, 10:00-11:00, at the church, prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Tyler McKinney, Whitney McKinney, Patrick McKinney, Coleman Pipkin, Brandon McKinney, Michael McKinney, Chris Wiygul, Luke McKinney, and Mac Crawford.
Mrs. McKinney is survived by her children, Scott (Stacy) McKinney of Jackson, MS, Beth (Tommy) Herring of Rainbow City, AL, Sallly (Tim) Wiygul of Tupelo, MS, and David (Michelle) McKinney of Winfield, AL; 13 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Amy McKinney of Harvest, AL; and her caregivers, Tammy Metcalf and Jenni Hankins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Vernon First United Methodist Church.
