Howard Jack Counts Jr, age 76 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kingsport on September 11, 1944 to the late Howard and Marjorie (Calhoun) Counts. Howard graduated from Dobbins-Bennett High School in Kingsport and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia Tech. Before his retirement, Howard was employed as an aeronautical engineer at AEDC for over forty years. A strong man of faith, he was a dedicated member of Winchester First United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed singing in the choir. Howard enjoyed woodworking and building and flying model airplanes. But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jeremy Goodwin. Howard is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Linda Counts of Winchester; children, Jennifer Counts (Jon) Bell of Manchester, and Joy Counts Goodwin of Mt. Juliet; and grandchildren, Kamryn Bell, Carter Bell, Jack Goodwin, and Jacob Goodwin. Visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Wanda Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
