Shirley Ann Stricklin, age 75, born on November 15th 1945 to Talmadge Nix and Emma Dunn Nix In Cullman, AL. Shirley passed away in her home on June 4th, 2021 in Haleyville, AL.
Visitation will be Monday June 6, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 NOON at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, AL. Graveside Service to follow at 2:00 PM in Addington Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, near Bremen, AL. in Cullman County Alabama.
She was married to Dwain Stricklin for 59 Years. They married in Buchanan, GA in a log cabin courthouse with a dirt floor. They lived in Haleyville, AL where they had four children.
Shirley was a devoted Christian who loved cooking for her family, taking care of her dogs, gardening, traveling and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Talmadge Nix and Emma Dunn Nix. Her 3 beloved sisters Faye Hanson, Gladys Brock and Helen Brown.
She is survived by her husband Dwain Stricklin, four children (Kent Stricklin, Tina Gravitt, Michael Stricklin and Niki Stricklin) and her sister Rachel Daffron. Her five grandchildren (Levi Gravitt, Christopher Gravitt, Madison Aderholt (Brandon Aderholt), Chelsey Hodge, Taylor Hodge) and 3 great grandchildren, (Keller Aderholt, Holden Aderholt and Harley Hodge). Her best friend of 38 years, Donna Jo Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the heart transplant team and the nurses at UAB hospital for the exceptional care they gave Shirley over the last 15 years, and a special thank you to her home health nurse and the team at DaVita Russellville Dialysis. You guys made a lasting impression on her life and ours and we will forever be grateful, she loved each one of you!
