Billy Joe Moultrie, age 84, of Madison, Alabama passed away on June 1, 2021 at his home following a short illness. Joe was born on June 10, 1936 in Horton, Alabama to Charles and Ola Moultrie. Joe was a devoted husband for 65 years to Colleen Lipscomb Moultrie. He was a graduate of University of Alabama and received his doctorate from Vanderbilt Peabody College. Joe was a professor in the School of Education for over 31 years where he taught School Law, Mathematics, and other subjects. He retired from teaching in 2002. Joe was a competitive tennis player in his younger years. He enjoyed reading and watching a good western movie. Joe always loved visiting with family and friends. He was a member of Madison Baptist Church in Madison, AL. He is survived by his wife Colleen Moultrie; sons Jeff Moultrie and David Moultrie (Jill); sister Nell Gilbert; brother Glen (Joyce) Moultrie; grandchildren Walt Moultrie and Nick Moultrie. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ola Moultrie; brothers Ray Moultrie and Bob Moultrie; and sister Ivalene Buckelew. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, Albertville, AL. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. till the time of service. The burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery.
