Ethel Bennett Stephens Ethel Bennett Stephens, age 82 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, She was born on August 21, 1938 to the late, Stephen King and Delton Marie Stewart Bennett. She was a class of 1957 graduate of Franklin County High School, and she later attended Motlow Community College. She retired from working as a bookkeeper at Southern Plumbing and Electric. Ethel married her late husband Lyndon Doyle Stephens in 1980, and even though they never had any children of her own she always took care of everyone in the family as if they were her children. She and Doyle were avid travelers and especially loved to go to Tunica and Las Vegas, and she always talked about how she wanted to go on another Alaskan Cruise. In her free time she loved to play rook, work in her flower garden, work on crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Ethel will always be remembered for being a good Christian woman, that was loving, unique, and caring. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Stuart Bennett, Lawrence Bennett, Giles Bennett, Earl Bennett, Nonda Bennett, Mary Etta Bauer, and Carolyn Alfredia Damron. She is survived by her step-children, Joe (Marie) Stephens, Beth Garcia of Florida, Sylvia Stephens of Lynchburg, Lyndon Stephens of Lynchburg; brother, Steve Bennett of Blue Ridge, Georgia; sister-in-law, Hattie Bennett of Georgia; nieces, Carolyn Steele, Connie Wallace, Anita Tinsley, Allison Spears, Julie Yearwood, Candice Christensen; nephews, Shannon Jackson, Giles Damron, Kenny Bennett; great-nieces and nephews, Julianna Damron, Abbie Steele, Dustin Jackson, Brandon Steele, Wade Knapper, Stuart Knapper, Allie Smith, Keaton Spears, Corey Bennett, Lauren Teepen, Beth Godowns, William Godowns, and Shane Jackson. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 24, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
