Funeral Services for Janet Johnston Klein, age 69, will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Old Gibson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Shelton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Klein passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 5, 2021. All appropriate social distancing protocols with face masks required will be observed as recommended by the CDC and the State of Tennessee.
Janet was born in Trenton, TN on June 27, 1951. She was the third child born to Paul and Juanita (Peggy) Johnston. She grew up in Trenton, TN where she went to school and worked at the Wilson Sporting Goods Co. in Humboldt, TN. Janet had two children and one step child, Samantha Autry (Keith), Jarrod Slaughter and Richard Klein II (Kelly). She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and considered herself blessed with two church families, The New Hope Church of Christ, Trenton TN, and the Southside Church of Christ, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She deeply loved all members from both churches and they were family to her. Janet was married to her husband of 35 years, Richard, on January, 4, 1986.
She loved living on a Michigan lake, boating and attending many activities with her friends grandchildren. She loved traveling to Mackinaw Island for political conventions with her two favorite traveling companions. She enjoyed many hours of working with her brother’s horses (more spoiling than working). She also learned how to skip pilot an airplane. She retired seven years ago and moved back to her home town of Trenton, TN.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Peggy Johnston and sisters, Claudette Samples and Paulette Johnston.
She is survived by her children, Samantha, Jarrod and Richard, her husband Richard, two siblings, Tommie Humphreys (Randy) and Tim Johnston, of Trenton. Six grandchildren, Britt Williams, Milan TN, Bailey Autry, Brylee Autry of Humboldt TN, Justin Klein, Carter Klein and Cohen Klein, of Rockford, MI., along with many nieces and nephews.
