William Michael Matthews, age 69 of Jackson, passed away on April 16, 2021 at his home.
He was born on February 16, 1952 in Biloxi, MS, to the late John W. Matthews, Jr. and Elloween Grantham Matthews. A lover of music, he worked at Stax Records in Memphis as a young man. He played the guitar, keyboards, and drums and loved jazz, blues, and rock and roll music. He attended Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his siblings, Larry Matthews (Cheryl) of Jackson, Laura Matthews of Jackson, and Jeanne Matthews of Mesa, AZ; nephews, Donald L. Matthews (Monica), and their children, Dawson, Maggie, and Drew and James Matthews (Leslie), and their children, Ethan and Jackson.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the graveside beginning at 12 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
