James “Red” Ernest Burgess, age 83, passed away on April 18, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.
James “Red” was born on January 20, 1938 in Valdosta, GA to parents Ernest and Rachel Burgess.
James “Red” was working as a maintenance man for the General Motors plant until his retirement. James “Red” knew the definition of hard work, you could always find him woodworking. He was a great handyman, he would make shelves, along with many other things for his own enjoyment. When he wasn’t working, you could find him relaxing watching his favorite Westerns or reading his Bible. Red was a kind and generous man, who always lended his time to the people he cared about most. The highlight of James is day was to enjoy a cup of coffee and talking about his day with his only and favorite daughter, Tamra.
James “Red” is preceded in death his parents and siblings.
James “Red” is survived by his daughter: Tamra Jamesena Burgess (Bobby) Fitzgerald; sisters: Mary and Margaret; and several nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren.
