General Douglas McArthur Bradford, age 78 passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Southern TN Regional Health System in Winchester, TN. Douglas was born August 2, 1942 in Winchester to the late Jessie Lee Bradford and Mary Lee Sims Bradford. He married Della Mae Steele on June 8, 1968 in Lynchburg, TN and they were married for 32 years. Douglas worked at Rock-Tenn in Tullahoma for 15 years until he retired in 1996. He worked as a farm hand for Tally Williams off and on for 50 years and was also employed by the City of Winchester for 3 years. Douglas was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn of Winchester and was baptized October 16, 1989. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, going to yard sales and taking a Saturday drive with his family. He also enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his log home on Keith Springs Mountain for his wife and family. He enjoyed gospel music and his favorite songs were In the Garden and Amazing Grace. Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae Steele; grandson, Richard Bradford; sisters, Edith Steele, Dorothy Jacks, Nancy Jacks, and Helen Steele; and brothers Junior Bohana and Johnny Bradford. He is survived by a daughter, Delisha Bradford of Winchester; granddaughter, Madison Scammon of Cowan; companion, Clara Tolliver of Belvidere; sister, Marlee Steele of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Rodger Bunch officiating.
