RET SGM Franklin Delano Chrisman, 88 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away at his home on Friday, March 19, 2021. He was born in South Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Franklin Chrisman, Steven Chrisman, and Sheila Chrisman Parton; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Three sisters, Susan E. Chrisman Wilkes, Gail Chrisman Hriczik, Bridget E. Chrisman Baker and one brother Patrick Chrisman. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry E. Chrisman and Anastasia L. Chrisman and his wife Joan O. Chrisman.
Mr. Chrisman retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant Major after thirty years of service, including a tour during the Korean Conflict and a tour during the Vietnam War. Tours in the military included Panama, Germany and Kagnew Station in Asmara Eritrea (Ethiopia). He was assigned to Redstone Arsenal in 1972 after leaving Ethiopia. After retiring from the Military, Mr. Chrisman continued his career in Civilian Service at Redstone Arsenal. When he retired from Civilian Service he devoted his entire time to his grandchildren, gardening and maintaining his pool. He was an avid ballroom dancer with the love of his life on the many cruises that they enjoyed.
He was a member of Latham United Methodist Church. A viewing is planned for March 26th from 10 am to 11 am at Latham United Methodist Church with the service taking place at 11 am. The procession will then move to Valhalla Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Latham United Methodist Church or the Disabled American Veterans (donate.dav.org/donate).
