Shepherd, Rufus Wilson Jr. (Bill) Age 83, of North Palm Beach, FL went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on March 18, 2021. Born and raised in Montgomery, AL he attended Robert E. Lee High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree from Auburn University in 1960. He was the loving husband of Martha Clyde Atkins Shepherd for almost 52 years.
Bill relocated to Palm Beach County, Florida to begin an engineering career with Pratt & Whitney, which would turn out to be only the first part of his working journey. Later in life he left the engineering world to pursue his real passion, which was the stock market. He enjoyed several years working for Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith, as well as for a small start up financial advisement company, before settling into semi-retirement, which always involved tracking, researching, studying, and trading stocks.
He enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family and meeting with his friends at church. He is survived by children Bradley Shepherd, Sydney Brooks and Jeffrey Shepherd; grandchildren Scot, Alex, Michael, Kelsey, Callie, Nicholas and Laura; nieces Susan and Cathy and great-grandchildren Hayden, Liam, Nixon, Margot and Wyatt. Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife Martha Clyde Atkins, and mother and father Myra Harrison and Rufus, Sr.
A small family-only service will be held in the near future in Montgomery, Alabama. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach, FL in memory of Bill and Martha Shepherd.
