Death to a Christian is moving out of this world and into eternal light. On Friday, February 26, 2021, our beloved mother, Berdie Thompson closed her eyes and was quietly summoned home to God to be at rest. Berdie was born March 31, 1928 in Sheffield, AL to Jacob and Carrie Johnson. As an adult, she obeyed the gospel of Christ and became a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Christ until her death. She was proceeded in death by her husband Willie J. “Ben” Thompson. At the time of his death, they had been married fifty-one years.
She began her spiritual journey at Sterling Blvd Church of Christ (formerly 19th Street Church of Christ) in Sheffield, AL and ended at High Street Church of Christ in Tuscumbia, AL.
Berdie leaves to cherish her memories: her children Cassandra Moten (Sheffield, AL), Michael Thompson (Sheffield, AL), Tyrone (Linda) Thompson (Hermitage, TN), Emily Holmes(Sheffield, AL), Ida Johnson (Ellenwood, GA). Godchildren: Belinda (Tracy) Ragland and Clara Penchion. Grandchildren Miasha Woods, Jonathan Moten, Phillip Thompson, Jasmine (John) Jasurda, Christian Holmes, Tyra Thompson, Sydney Johnson, Tyler Thompson, Taylor Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and a host of other relatives and friends.
