Bernice “Sam” Tyra Gunter age 89 of Guin, AL passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her residence.
Born October 28, 1931 in Phil Campbell, AL, she is the Daughter of the late Grandville “Toad” and Ruby Whitfield Tyra and the Wife of the late J.E. Gunter. She had lived in Guin since 1965 and was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by 2 Daughters, Katherine Fay Sisk (Gary) of North Carolina, and Susan Riley of Athens, AL, 2 Sons, Donald Ray Gunter of North Carolina and Larry Joe Gunter (Terry) of Atwater, CA, A Special Daughter In Law, Patsy Gunter of Guin, AL, 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson, and a Sister, Carolyn Tyra of Flora, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, her Husband, J.E. Gunter, a Son, Eddie Gunter, an infant Granddaughter, Becky Gunter, an infant Sister, Alvis Tyra, 2 Brothers, J.T. Tyra and Grandville Tyra, and 2 Sisters, Betty James and Dean Mocherman.
Services held Friday, February 26, 12 Noon from the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bro. B.J. Mills officiating.
