David Leon Betzer 73, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 peacefully at home with his family and friends close by. Dave was born on June 30, 1947 to the late Elmer Eugene and Louise Evelyn Betzer both of Decatur, IL. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with the  funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dave traveled across the country as a truck driver for many years. This job brought much joy to his life, but not as much joy and happiness as the day he reconciled with his two daughters and their families. This was the peace and joy that he longed for many years. God answered his prayers! The only Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Louise Betzer; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Betzer and Edwin “Lynn” Betzer, all of Decatur. Dave is survived by his two daughters, Tonya Flynn, of Pensacola, FL, Rhonda Taylor of Atmore, AL; one son, Michael Betzer and his family, all of Decatur, IL; seven grandchildren, Blaine, Taylor, Kyle, Jacob, Christopher, Jamie and Kayla; six great grandchildren, Blaydin, Beckett, Baylor, Isla, Jack and Ruger. He survived by his brother, Lawrence “Larry” Betzer of FL, many nieces and nephews; a very special and loving friend, Ms. Glenda Dunaway; and two “Special ex sister in-laws Patricia Wessel and Sandra Steverson whom he had many laughs with. Additionally, the family would like to give a special Thank You to the Comfort Care Hospice and the many nurses who made his life as comfortable as possible, “We appreciate you so much”!!!
