Robert Earl Phillips Sr.Robert Earl Phillips, Sr., known by family and friends as “Jake” or “Bulldog”, age 72 of Sumiton, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021 at his residence.
He was employed at ABC Coke for 25 years; he was also employed at Birmingham Bolt in Dora for 20 years. He was retired from the U. S. Army National Guard after 20 years of active and reserve duty.
He loved listening to Elvis, loved History and was an avid Alabama football fan. Most of all he loved his kids and grandkids, his parents, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Phillips; his dad, Robert Hershel Phillips, Sr; his aunt, Mavis Burroughs and his brother-in-law, Jim Matthews.
Survivors include his children, Robert Hershel Phillips, II (Jade), Judith Fay Phillips and Robert Earl Phillips, Jr. (Jordan); grandchildren, Dawson Kennedy Phillips, Christian Hunter Phillips, Caleb Ryan Phillips, Lakin Grace Payne, Zachariah Preston Bryant and Robert Isaac Phillips; his mother, Opal Phillips; sister, Barbara Matthews; niece, Sarah Matthews; many other family members and a host of friends.
Graveside service and burial will be Tuesday February 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at McCormack Cemetery in Dora. Rev. Jack Thorn will officiate. Everyone is welcome to attend the graveside services. Please adhere to all Covid-19 guidelines.
