Phillip Hollister, 76, of Huntsville, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021. Phillip was born in Bennington, Vermont and graduated from Bennington High School in 1963. He graduated from The University of Missouri with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1973. Later, he earned his masters at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering. He served in the Air Force from 1965-1985, and later retired in Huntsville.
Phill loved God, family, country, and tennis. He served God by seeking those who needed help and actively volunteered with multiple organizations. His greatest joy was serving at the Madison County Detention Center Inmate Tutoring Program, Big Brother, and Manna House. He loved spending time with his friends and family and making memories with them. He was proud to serve his country for more than 20 years. While there was never a day he didn’t want to play tennis, he also loved traveling, skiing, camping, riding his scooter, and telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Hollister, mother, Belle Hollister, brother, Larry Hollister, and sister, Paula Hollister. Survivors include his wife, Laurali Hollister; children, Karen Sholes, Christine Little (Roger), and Andrew Hollister; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Katie Best; brother, Kevin Hollister (Sarah); nieces and nephews.
A Drive Through Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. at Hillwood Baptist Church in Huntsville on Saturday, January 30, 2021 with Dr. Charles Freeman officiating. Services will be Covid-safe and will be held on the lawn of the church. Families will stay in vehicles for the Receiving Line at 1 p.m. and the Celebration at 2 p.m.
