Cremation was chosen for Mr Jack Ragan, who passed away Monday night, January 25th, peacefully with family by his side.
Mr. Ragan was born in Gibson County where as a boy he spent his time developing a lifetime love of sports. He played Little League baseball in Milan, TN and then his family moved to Gary, Indiana where he graduated from Horace Mann High School. Jack served in the U.S. Army in the early 60’s.
Mr Ragans’ passions were his family and the University of Tennessee athletics along with Peabody High School athletics and the Band of Gold. He is remembered by many as a referee in local high school basketball and called football games on Friday nights at Freed Field.
Mr. Ragan spent most of his career working in the garment industry with Kellwood Company and Better Methods Alexander. He and his wife along with his brother and sister in law, Ralph and Trish Bobbitt, owned and operated the Rebel Restaurant and Catering Service for several years in Trenton.
Mr. Ragan was preceded in death by: his parents Frank Ragan and Aileen Culp King; an uncle Fred Culp, an aunt, Estelle Culp Barker (Joe), all of Trenton and Jeff Rybak a nephew of Bowling Green, OH.
Mr. Ragan is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Brenda Bobbitt Ragan, , son Steve Holmes of Atlanta and a daughter Lynn Mathes of Raymore, MO; a sister Elizabeth Rybak (Ted) of Valparaiso, IN; a granddaughter Ragan Halbrook, of Trenton and grandson Ben Elliott of Raymore, MO. He also leaves 2 great granddaughters, Reece and Jordyn Halbrook of Trenton and his brother in law and sister in law, Howard and Judy Burns of Nashville, TN.
There are no services planned at this time. Memorials can be made to Peabody High School Football program and or the Peabody Band of Gold.
