Bishop John Edwin McPeek, Jr., age 72 of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday January 21, 2021. Bishop McPeek was Pastor of Owen’s Chapel Church of God in Empire. He served in the ministry for over 50 years, where he started many youth ministries, pastored many churches and served God in every facet of his life.
Funeral services will be Sunday January 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Owen’s Chapel Church of God 2276 Coon Creek Rd. Empire, AL 35063. Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens in Dora. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time on Sunday at the church. Everyone is requested to follow all Covid-19 protocols, including face coverings and social distancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edwin McPeek, Sr. and Ann McPeek.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda McPeek; children, Brenda Turner (Jerry) and John McPeek III (Chasity); grandchildren, Torian Turner, Lili Grace McPeek and Zadie Lynn McPeek; his sister, Roberta Davies (Jeff); many other family members, his church family and a host of friends.
