Charlotte Gertrude Hawkins Lee, 91, passed from this world on January 14, 2021 at her home in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born December 25, 1929 to Oscar and Gertrude Hawkins, the middle of 10 children, in Huntsville, AL, where she lived her whole life. Her only child was with her first husband and the love of her life, Roy Lee. After his death, she moved on in life, but carried his memory faithfully. Her interests centered on people, primarily her family. She doted on her son and his wife. She was a significant and loving presence for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren their whole lives. She enjoyed every encounter with people and brought that energy to everyone she knew and met. She worked most of the years of her life at many professions including substitute teacher at her son’s school (Rison School), Gray Lady with the Red Cross, a manager at Stanlio’s Subs, health worker with Huntsville Hospital and Big Spring Manor Nursing Home, delicatessen worker at Winn Dixie, security at McDonald-Douglas and Hart & Cooley, and, finally, a greeter at Wal-Mart.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Bill and Jane Lee; her granddaughters and their husbands, Julia and Mason McCloud, Caryn and Eddie Stephens; her grandson David Lee; and her great-grandson, James Stephens.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all siblings; her husbands, Roy Lee, Donald Beal, and Delbert Poole; and by her grandson, Jesse Lee.

At her request, no service will be held. No donations or flowers are requested.
