Emogene “Jean” Cummings, 85, of Iuka, MS passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville, MS. She was a member at New Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and going to church. An avid basketball fan, she never missed a game if at all possible. Her greatest blessings in her life were her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Rickey Cummings (Phyllis); her sisters, Shirley Grissom and Peggy Rhodes; her daughter in law, Janie Cummings Reese; her grandchildren, Nicole South (Kelly), Kari Bridges (Randy) and Daniel Cummings; her great grandchildren, Chandler South, Danielle South, Landon Bridges, Bristol Cummings, and Chaseton Cummings; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Paul Cummings; her son, Nickey Cummings; her daughter, Paula Cummings; her parents, Alton and Amy Remell Smith Laird; her brothers, Billy Laird, Tommy Laird, and Jimmy Laird; and her sister, Earlene Henderson.  Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2021 at New Liberty Baptist Church from 5pm until. Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2021 at New Liberty Baptist Church at 12 Noon, with Bro. Edwin Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Cummings Family Cemetery. The family would like to let everyone know that the service will be broadcast on the local radio station that is used by the church to broadcast services. The family would also like to ask that everyone that attends please try to social distance as much as possible.
