Funeral services for Mrs. Sybil Paulette Johnston, age 73, will be held at 2 pm Thursday, January, 14, 2021 at the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 pm until 9pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the funeral home. All services will follow the appropriate social distancing protocols, with face masks required, as set forth by the CDC and state of Tennessee.
Mrs. Johnston passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Friday, January 8, 2021.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of New Hope Church of Christ. Paulette was born in the family home on Pea Ridge outside of Trenton, Tennessee on January 9, 1947. She was the oldest of five children born to Paul and Juanita “Peggy” Johnston. Paulette attended school in Trenton and graduated from Peabody High School in 1965. She worked at the IGA in Humboldt for seven years and for Tharp Bros. in Humboldt for eight years. She liked to read and loved her family immeasurably.
Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Fern Riggins; a sister, Claudette Samples and both parents.
Mrs. Johnston is survived by a son Bobby Riggins of Jackson, two grandchildren, Hillary Ernest (Kevin) of Eaton and Nick Riggins of Jackson, two great grandchildren, Makailyn Ernest and Brayden Ernest, three siblings, Janet Klein(Rick) of Trenton, Tommie Humphreys (Randy) of Trenton and Tim Johnston of Trenton and many nieces and nephews.
