He married Sue in August of1963, and three years later, due to his health complications, they moved from Hartselle to Evergreen where he worked for Poole Truck Line until he retired over 30 years later. He came out of retirement to hire on with the Poole’s as they formed Evergreen Transportation, where he worked until he retired again. He was the number one driver for Mr. Poole at both truck lines. He won many awards and bonuses for his superb driving and safety habits.
After 33 years of marriage, Sue kept her appointment with God. Then seven years later, he married his widowed neighbor Eva (Mrs. Jack Smelley) after she fed him a huge bowl of chicken and dumplings. They attended Bower Memorial Baptist Church where they were married in August 2013. They were married nearly 7 years when she kept her appointment with God in June.
Billy McCutcheon was a very good and special man. He was a man’s man.. He was strong as an ox, worked twice as hard as one, cared for everyone he met, and was always ready with a smile. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend towards all he met. The world now has a huge void without him..
He is already tremendously missed by many people.
He is now trucking Heaven bound to rejoin his loved ones there.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Hartselle Memory Gardens.
