 Gene Edward Comer, of Huntsville, Alabama, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, went to be with his Lord on December 24, 2020, He was 83.

Mr. Comer was born on May 26, 1937, to Edward Almon Comer and Irene Dean Comer, in Lauderdale County, Alabama. He graduated from Lauderdale County High School, where he lettered in two sports. He then went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University. In 1958 he married his high school sweetheart. They moved to Huntsville, where he began a long career at NASA, which included many years on the Skylab team. In his later years at NASA he was a senior member of the Program Development group. He and his wife raised two daughters in Huntsville. He retired from NASA in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, golf, reading, watching Auburn football, and spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sherry Ann Phillips Comer, his daughters Dawn Comer Nicholson (husband Michael) and Holly Comer Delgado (husband Marcus), granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Nicholson, grandson, Tate Delgado, sister, Faye Comer Bedingfield (husband Jerry), and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Huntsville Public Library and Shanon’s House of Compassion.
